When you step into someone's home, before you even see the walls, you sense something. A scent, an atmosphere, a signature. Some homes have one, consciously or not. Others do not.
This signature comes largely, more than one thinks, from the linen. The sheets, the towels, the curtains, the cushion covers. Vast, absorbent surfaces that capture and release a scent for longer than any room diffuser.
Why linen carries scent so well
Textile fibre is naturally absorbent. The weave traps scent molecules, releases them on contact with heat, and lays them back into the surroundings. This is why hotel linen, properly cared for, still holds its scent after two days in a room.
Choose a signature, do not stack scents
The most common mistake: combining a scented detergent (peach), a scented softener (lavender), a drawer sachet (linden) and a room diffuser (cherry blossom). The result: a blurred, often aggressive, blend.
Homes with a true signature have made a choice. They have an olfactive family, carried coherently across several surfaces.
The four main olfactive families suited to linen
- Woody-iris: white wood, iris, tonka bean, white musk. A chic family, a palace evocation. The most luxurious for household linen. This is the signature of MÉMOIRE.

The central role of the fabric softener
The softener is the chief keeper of the olfactive signature. It is what, at the end of the cycle, settles onto the fibre without being rinsed away. A good fragranced softener should hold for 3-4 days, stay discreet (no saturation), and carry a recognisable signature.

Once the softener is chosen, reinforce with relays: scented sachets between the piles (iris, lavender, sandalwood), scented drawer liners, a light diffusion in the linen room with the same accord.
